Wilderness First Aid Class A Mountain Oriented First Aid (MOFA) Class is offered every fall at Guye Cabin. Mountaineering First Aid (MOFA) is a 24-hour first aid course for the wilderness traveler.
This is an accelerated course and students will be expected to do significant study and pass a course pre-test prior to the course start. The Mountaineering First Aid book, American Red Cross text book will be distrtibuted two weeks prior to the class. A pre-test will be emailed to the students with time to study and complete prior to the Guye Cabin Weekend. This course will held at Guye Cabin and begin at 7:00 PM on Friday evening and continue through Sunday evening approximately 5:00 PM. Be prepared for fall unpredictable weather, as a good portion of the class will be held outdoors, come rain, snow, or shine. You'll need to bring snacks and meals for the entire weekend, and coordinate feeding the instructors. Course Attendance Participation is required at all class sessions. The class involves hands-on, interactive learning. Wear casual clothes suitable for working on the ground and outdoors.
Arrangements cannot be made to make up class sessions. Please do not register for a class unless you can commit to attend all class sessions. Registration Registration information will be on this page the end of September. It will also be published in the monthly WAC Bulletin. Enrollment will begin in September and closes when all spaces are allotted, or on October 31. The class will fill very quickly. Priority is given to those who commit to taking the Instructor Course.

Cancellation Policy In order to receive a refund for a MOFA Course, the cancellation must be made by the last day of registration. There are no refunds for no-shows or drop-outs. No partial refunds will be given. Eligibility You must be member of the Washington Alpine Club to take any WAC offered classes. To take advantage of all this great Club has to offer just Apply now... The WAC will also make spaces available to other Outdoor Clubs including our friends the Mountaineers, Boalps, and WSTC. Cost $120 (includes 2 nights at Guye Cabin)

We are in need of people interested in becoming certified to teach MOFA! Want to help the WAC organize and teach First Aid classes? Become a MOFA Instructor! Do you want to improve your first aid knowledge and skills? Would you like to help out your fellow WAC'ers and give something back to the club? Become a MOFA instructor! If you have a current MOFA card, join an instructor course! MOFA Instructor Courses are offered twice a year to those with current MOFA cards!
To everyone MOFA certified we hope you will take the next step to the next level and become certified to teach MOFA to others.
The MOFA and ARC Lay Responder FA/CPR/AED instructor course is to be held evenings and one Saturday.

The course includes Fundamentals of Instructor Training (10/9, 10/14); American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid skills certification and MOFA skills testing (10/18); and the ARC/MOFA Instructor Course (10/21, 10/23, 10/28, 10/30, 11/04). The course tuition of $75.00 will be reimbursed after you teach your first course for the WAC. (If you are already an American Red Cross instructor you may be excused from part of the Oct. 9th and Oct. 14th sessions.)

CPR The WAC recommends both infant/child and Adult CPR for all its members! We participate in the Seattle Red Cross CPR Saturday each May. http://www.seattleredcross.org/ The Seattle Fire Department's Medic II Program provides free Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) classes to the general public. The program offers a three hour adult CPR class, a one-and-a-half hour refresher course and a four-hour infant/child CPR class, which also focuses on injury prevention and safety for children. Adult CPR Certification Seattle Fire Department has FREE CPR classes that are frequently scheduled around the city. They teach both child/infant and adult classes for FREE.
