The real reason I am writing this is to bug Aki.  Anyway, on Saturday Christy and I headed up the NC highway in the... rain.  Hiking looked like the ticket.  But at Ross Dam we decided to go to Washington Pass on the chance that the weather was better, which it was, although not much better.  But sheer inertia propelled us up the Blue Lake trail, up the gully to Liberty Bell, and up the peak.  The rain quit, and we ended up having a really fun little climb!  A few notes:
1) The trail was patchy snow, the climbers' path had snow in the flat spots (bad) and in the upper gully (very good).  This snow won't last much longer.
2) I still don't like chimneys but Christy led it (of course then I had to carry the pack).
3) We are now officially "expert lightweight climbers" since we used my brand-new-never-out-of-the-box twin/double 8mm PMI rope.  This is a really slick system, and I highly recommend this rope.
